Welcome to the World Championship Lineman's Rodeo Website. Here you will find all the necessary information to 1) Register for events, 2) Climb on board with our event and promote your company products, equipment and tools, 3) View the archives of WCLR. We want to welcome and encourage you to participate in the upcoming 5th Annual World Championship Lineman's Rodeo on April 24th & 25th, 2009 in Shreveport / Bossier City, Louisiana. Entry fees will be as follows: Teams - $350 Apprentice - $150 Individual Journeyman Event - $150 PRIZES The first year of the WCLR, $9,600 in cash prizes were awarded to the event winners along with $13,000 in belt buckles and plaques. The WCLR held its third annual event in March 2007 awarding $32,000 in prizes.
EVENTS The WCLR will have traditional speed events of the egg race and hurtman rescue, along with two mystery events for senior, journeyman and apprentice linemen. Additionally, we will host individual mystery events for journeyman linemen. These individual events will be open to any journeyman lineman interested in showcasing their skills separate from a team.
ENTERTAINMENT Additionally, entertainment for the children and other activities are planned to make this year’s event a memorable one. The Louisiana Boardwalk provides an interesting setting: a carnival atmosphere, a panoramic view of downtown Shreveport and the scenic Red River, and an outdoor mall with hundreds of businesses to shop.
JOURNEYMAN LINEMAN Few people know what is required for an individual to master the skills of a journeyman lineman. The goal of the WCLR is to showcase these skills in a competitive rodeo with challenging events and fair judging. CONTACT INFORMATION William Weems Phone: 318.780.0555 Email:

One difference between the WCLR and other regional lineman rodeo events is the WCLR was started and organized, and is supported and maintained by today’s lineman. "Not unlike our respected firemen and policeman, I believe today’s linemen also deserve recognition for what they do everyday and after a major outage event. The Rodeo is as challenging as many games, but at the end of the play we are delivering a critical service to thousands of people across the United States. I am truly passionate about what our linemen do.
One thing we are sure of - We will provide you an excellent service for what you are considering embarking upon. We look forward to putting on the 4th Annual WCLR and hope to see ya there." William Weems President, WCLR |
